      Beware high level hounds that you don't have the resistance for.
      If a bunch of them decide to breathe at once, you're a goner.

      Dark hounds aren't too bad though.

        i have slowly been going deeper.. i found boots of speed but im not wearing eek cos i wanting nexus res from boot of stability i have. i had some extreme close calls with the pheonix and crystal drake and eth drake, <10 hp eek~~!

          Those boots of speed may have saved your life, and equipping them should have been a no-brainer, they would have nearly doubled your speed giving you plenty of time to equip the 'of stability' if you needed to (or escape from nexus breathing whatever). There are worse things than nexus... death.

              I'm not sure if speed could have saved him in this case. Time Hounds move at speed +20 and it took only three breaths to kill him. He had very low HP for that depth. Also there were a Master Mystic there which, if allowed, can KO person with double-move and only +8 speed is not enough to prevent that. Haste & +8 permanent speed maybe.

                That said, +7 speed vs. nexus resistance is still a no-brainer. And depending on the layout, it might have meant the difference against those time hounds; depends on how he managed to get them all into LOS in the first place.

                    There is "you spin around" between door burst and mystic summons, so you did something there. Anyway, speed might have saved you. Or not.

                      The "You spin around." indicates that he or she used the "alter" command (the one that opens/closes doors, attacks monster, disarms traps or tunnels depending on the contents of the grid) on a grid that has no contents.

                      There's nothing that can be done to the grid in the direction that he or she chose, so it just prints that message instead.

                      The action spent trying to alter an empty grid is an action that could have been spent doing something useful.

                          I "spun around" three times in a row immediately after killing Morgoth for the first time. It nearly cost me my life. I was mortified. I was trying to adjust the screen brightness of my laptop. I'm not sure what incorrect key press I a-tap-tap-tapped, but it seems funny now. Woo-hoo, woo-hoo- woo-hoo!!!
