    Dealing with Summoning Uniques

I'm playing a Ranger, and have been having some issues dealing with uniques with strong summoning abilities. After taking a few shots at them, they bring their friends along, block my LOS, and make the situation more dangerous. I can't teleport the summoned monsters away without the summoner also disappearing. In some cases, I can dig a corridor to melee the summoner one on one, but that only works if their melee abilities won't simply make mincemeat out of me. Is there a good alternative?

Suggestion #1: Ignore those uniques until you are strong enough to kill them quickly.

The more involved approach is to fight in a moat. Lure them to the far side of a moat from you. Stand in a corner and shoot as they come. When they summon, move to the next corner and teleport the summonees away as they approach. Shoot some more and repeat. When forced, phase, hopefully into the middle, get out into the moat and repeat. There is more to it, but that's the main idea. Also, wands of ball spells are useful because you can target even with summonees blocking the way.

teleporting the unique away isn't always bad. You can track them down and continue fighting until they summon again.

Sure, some summoners - say, Boldor - are hard to eliminate. In addition to previous I'd mention about slow mosters staff to cut unique from escort, speed potion to improve melee and single powerful range shot to finish him when he'll try to escape.

Baldor summons... yeeks , oh my goodness. I see Baldor's ability to phase door as the greater threat .

I dig an anti-summoning corridor and fight them in there. It reduces the danger.
