    Fire command selecting from equipment

I have a strange problem using the angband 3.1.2v2 installed by the Ubuntu 10.10 package manager. Whenever I try to fire an arrow, it's selecting from my equipment instead of my inventory:

(Equip: / for Inven, ESC) Fire which item?

I have to press / before I can select the arrows. Needless to say, this becomes tedious very quickly. It's the same with the default and rogue-like interfaces (I use the latter).

Does anybody know how to fix this?

Wield the arrows into your quiver. That's why the fire command was changed to look at the equipment.

I just had the same issue. It would be more obvious if Equipment showed a slot for quiver even when it was empty.

I wielded my arrows and set them to @f1, so now my Equip shows a blank slot for f0 and one for f1. Does this imply having more than one quiver? I guess I should just test this next time I pick up some ammo.

f0 is the default arrow slot for the 'h' command, which shoots nearest monster with first arrow. Think of it like "regular use arrow slot", and inscribe 1s 2s 3s etc. for manual use arrows (brands, slays)

The quiver is 10 different missile stacks, theoretically spanning 10 inventory slots (99 in all 10 slots will take 10 slots of inventory marked as quiver).
