I don't know if those have any official names, but they are called "unusual rooms". The one with four rooms and doors, that checkered one, the one with two small room in middle etc. all have same outside shape as pits. I think all vanilla "unusual rooms" are like that.Comment

I've heard the word 'treasure room' used for that type of room before. I think it comes from an older roguelike. Treasure room is a bit of a misnomer because there's rarely anything good inside it.Comment

My bad. Just read "checkerboard" and didn't actually pay attention of the following word.

Actually I think we need some vault type between LV and GV. I remember when there was a bug in vaults.txt and CrownGV was accidentally marked as LV. Those were common then, but not overly so (it contains only 8 positions that are better than ordinary LV has, but those 8 were very good indeed). I was having fun luring way too OoD monsters out of the vault to get to the goods inside.
Maybe also something between
"8 - monster up to 40 levels OOD and treasure up to 20 levels OOD" (item is guaranteed excellent)
and
"9 - monster up to 9 levels OOD and treasure up to 7 levels OOD" (IIRC no guarantee that item is even good, if there is then item is almost certainly boring)
How about "item 15 levels OOD and monster 20 levels OOD"?
Rework a bit those vaults. GV:s are usually quite boring barring few exceptionally good ones, and lesser vaults are too commonplace to be anything special. DLV:s are actually in many cases better than most GV:s for loot.Comment
