I love the work Magnate has done on the Randarts and I think it's a shame that by the time you find out what randarts were there, they are already gone. I think it would be nice to have an option at character creation to keep the current randart set or generate a new one. Then reading the spoiler file is more than torturing yourself with what you could have found but also gives you something to look forward to in your next game if you want.

Interesting - I've been working on randarts for ten years and I think this is the first time anyone has asked for this. Since you asked so nicely, I'll add it to my to-do list -like so!

Excellent, thank you. Instead of a new birth option would it be possible to have a query at the beginning of the randart generator? Something to the effect "Generate new randarts?" if you answer no it skips the generator and starts the game.

Why would the prompt be preferable to a birth option? All of the birth options could be made into prompts if the developers wanted to; it just makes the interface more cluttered if they are. In fact, maximize and preserve used to be prompts, but were moved to the birth options.

Perhaps a bith option for verbose birth options .

I always forget to turn randarts on.

I think new birth questions like "Change birth options (randarts, ironman, selling, connected stairs, AI) [y/N]" would not be intrusive. "Generate new random artifacts [Y/n]" on random-artifact games sounds okay too.

You can turn it on, right now, and it will take effect next game. Unless you do that buggy dump options stuff.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I can't bring myself to suicide a character and playing a moderately successful game (if you're me) could take weeks or even months. By the time my character dies there's usually a new ver. out, so I update and then once again forget to change the options. It's a vicious cycle.

Change the option now, and it will take effect in 6 months after you upgrade, so long as you carry over the savefile.
