What did I miss

Gah! So I'm playing in non-preserve mode and my last staff of identify gets toasted on a "special" level. I find an unknown scroll and, stupidly, thinking I'm about the right depth for acquirement, I read it rather than risk it getting burnt. Turns out it's deep descent.

Well stupid me, lesson learned.

But I'm wondering is there any way to check what artifact(s) I missed? I'd be happier knowing it wasn't anything important like Ringil or something (unlikely at my depth). I'm not averse to backing up my save-file and cheating to find out, and then restoring, if that's what's necessary. Doesn't seem like a big cheat to me

If you are playing a current version of V, artifacts should be listed in the notes at the end of the dump with (LOST) or something like that. You can also use the knowledge menu to check artifacts. I believe lost artifacts are listed there as well as seen artifacts. If you remember what you have seen, any others should be the lost ones.

I never play with preserve off, so I don't know that either of those will work, but I see no reason why they should not.

Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunatley this is my first run in 3.1.1 and I created a new character file, so my knowledge only extends to what I've seen on this run. So I don't think checking knowledge is going to work. Any other suggestions, or can is there a way to cheat for complete knowledge?

The knowledge menu shows what you have seen this game, or missed artifacts. I do not think it has anything to do with previous games.

Ah yes. I've checked both now and it looks like I missed one of the "P" gauntlets. No biggie I lost track of how many I'd found and sold so that's why I didn't pick it up in the knowledge.
