    lost inscriptions bug?

I'm playing the V competition character. Going back to vanilla takes some getting used to.

Anyway I loaded my saved character and my autoincriptions for the spellbooks disappeared. The autoinscriptions had gone back to the defaults.
Is this a bug or is there something else going on I don't know about?

PS: It seems really hard to get enough gold for needed equipment when I'm not used to hoarding useless stuff to sell.

PPS: I was in the potion squelch menu and saw constitution and contemplation next to each other so at first glance I thought I saw constipation.

Not a problem. There's a potion that cures that .

There are no default autoinscriptions. I'd guess that the current comp savefile is a descendant of one I submitted for another comp, and Nick didn't clear all of my inscriptions.

Can you be specific about your sequence? Is your "saved character" from the comp or something else? The inscriptions are savefile specific, so if you change savefiles or recopy the comp start you won't see any changes you made to the previous savefile.

I played the competition character and set my autoincriptions for the magic books to @p1@b1@G1, etc (because I never use 'm' to cast spells regardless of spell realm. 'p' is handier when you're using the roguelike keyset). Then I saved it and when I loaded it later my autoinscriptions were set back to
@m1@b1@G1, which was what the savefile had before I set mine.

That is truly bizarre. I don't even have a farfetched guess how that might happen. Try again and see if you can repeat it?

Did you dump macros before changing to your @p1 inscriptions and saving the game? It's possible that the original inscriptions got dumped, and then loaded back in after you reloaded the game, overwriting your new ones.

I don't even know if autoinscriptions are included in macro dumps, but that's my only theory.

That might be it actually because I set a couple macros and dumped them and it might have been before setting my autoinscriptions (I don't remember). I'm not on that computer right now and probably won't have a chance to try it again for a few days, but when I get the chance I'll try to repeat it (and dump macros after setting the autoinscriptions this time).
