If I read the code correctly, the probability of generating 1000 GP drop at dlvl 0 is no more than 1 in 16000, i.e. at least 14 consecutive heads in coin flipping. And now two consecutive drops... Ahem, can I have The One at dlvl 1 next time, please?

Maybe they stole those money from you before? There was a change that stealing monsters have drop the money they stolen when you kill them.

No, I checked the log. And I have ~8000 GP total at this point, I'd notice if they steal that much.

It's been in V for quite some time. Possibly 3.1.0. IMO it is an important prerequisite to "no selling".

Trust the guys here. You just got robbed without noticing. Happens all the time with packs of urchins.
