    End game advice needed

So I'm pretty close to being able to take Sauron and Morgoth...But I feel like I still need a high end bow and more speed! Its gotten to the point that I've been going back up to get more healing potions. Now I'm working my way back down since I have enough healing to kill some of the more dangerous uniques.

I've also been using destruction scrolls to sort some of the loot out, because IDing a whole room full of crap is boring.

I have a lot of crap and little room so I was wondering what you guys think I should keep and what to dump.

Thanks in advance : ) BTW how do I get the cool scrolling window with my character? I feel lame for not being able to do that.

Here is my character : http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=10133

Your bow is fine, but your ammo is lacking. You need seeker arrows, arrows of acid and slay evil. You definately need more speed. No boots of speed at all? You should be IDing all arrows and boots.

If you are destructing loot, make sure you are using a staff and not scrolls. Those scrolles are invaluable!

Oh I have been iding all Bows and boots before blowing shit up. And I'll make sure to use a staff next time... I've been branding all my arrows btw. And I haven't found many Slay evil arrows other than what you see.

      Thanks btw.

On my ranger I finished 2 days ago, I found Sauron to be pretty easy if you can make a ASC and use glyphs. Especially with acid arrows or with a ring of acid and melee attacks.

For Morgoth, I had barely found any Slay Evil arrows so I used the shoot and run technique until those ran out along with the other mithril arrows (got him to about 2/3 health), and then used the "plant glyph, melee, blink and heal when it's broken" technique until he was dead. Used about 13 !Healing, 2 !*healing, 3 !Life, 5 !RestoreMana, and about 60 !CCW (used these first obviously).

If you want to keep farming for arrows of Slay Evil, you will mow down Morgoth really fast and it will be the most anticlimactic fight ever. Stand in a room, haste yourself, shoot him until he summons, banish it or mass banish it, keep shooting. He'll go down one star of life per about every 10 arrows; it's pretty ridiculous.

Thanks dude that sounds like a plan! I do think that I will need to farm some more stuff since this will be the first time I beat the game. And I still need speed and a better bow...

Two absolutely important rules when fighting Morgoth on any class:

            1) Always stay above +25 speed (either naturally or with spells) or he can possibly do over 1000 damage to you in one turn (see rule #2). Morgoth moves at +25 speed.

            2) Always stay above 550 hp at ALL times (and higher if he has dangerous minions nearby that can hit you), because Morgoth is fond of casting Mana Storm that does 550 unresistable damage. If you are below or too close to 550 hp, *always* take a turn to heal or blink/teleport/TO, the lower fail rate option the better.

I recommend buying at least one whole stack (99) !CCW to use when you blink or teleport away and break line of sight. They are a cheap and easily obtained healing alternative to !Healing, !*Healing, or !Life. !CSW and !CLW can work too, since they now heal a percentage of damage instead of a flat amount.

another trick that I found worked very well on Morgoth is heavy use of door creation for mage classes to block LOS before healing self, restoring mana, etc.

Blink/phase works well vs summoning too, since Morgoth tends to move faster than his minions, so blinking a short distance away will separate him from them.

Manastorm does 500 + 10d10 damage, not 550. So to be safe from Morgoth, you need to stay above 600 health. Of course, if there's any other monsters around, then you'll need to stay even higher...

Thanks for the correction. I was looking at the monster memory that says 550, but that's the average.

Sadly I'm playing 3.0.9b and as you probably know CCW don't do shit. Other than cure blindness. BTW is there a way to cure the effects of chaos other than time? I almost got killed by a Pit Fiend because he breathed chaos. Lucky for me I could still cast spells...
