Couple of bugs on headrev 4/10

I pulled latest revision (1961) and saw two bugs:

    1) I just descended a level, and used my rod of detect treasure. On the other side of the dungeon it detected a ring of dexterity(+2).

I don't think the +2 should be revealed until I actually identify the ring (or use it).

    2) A magic mushroom did something to me that immediately crashed the game. I'm not sure what, but am posting it as an FYI.

I think a 'debug' option would be useful to write messages to a file, not just on screen, so I can actually give more information next time.

    (1) is known, and is in the process of being fixed. The code does not handle effects in darkness but within ESP range very well. E.g. wands don't become aware in such cases. I don't know whether that is related to your crash in (2), but that's my FYI to anyone who looks into this.

      (1) should be fixed now. Also, the squelch_worthless option ought to be useful to those who want it.

There are several other small improvements. http://trac.rephial.org/changeset/1963

I don't know if this bug has been mentioned before...I found a randart that applies a *slay demon* to my melee weapon (which is a Gondolin weap with slay demon). In the item "I"dentify screen, the average damage against demons is listed twice: once for the slay and once for the *slay*.

(Being a mage, I haven't actually melee'd any demons, so I can't say if it is actually working properly for damage. I will check when I get home tonight.)
