    Tactics

So let me begin by thanking the creators and maintainers of this wonderful game. I've been playing the G-Phone version 3.1.1 Vanilla and would like to offer a few tactics I've been using to help my fellow 'banders. Some of these may be obvious but hopefully it can be enlightening to some:

    The Burrow and Beckon:
Create an anti-summoning channel and once you're nice and tucked away, equip an item that will aggravate your target. This way you don't have to expose yourself when you grab their attention if they were asleep and you will probably get the first action when they come to you depending on your speed. This is also great for clearing Demon pits.

    Endless Wyrm Cloning:
Save those clone monster wands when you are diving so that when you achieve an elemental immunity through a new piece of equipment, you can dive and clone/kill that particular elemental wyrm in relative safety. A straight hallway will do the trick, just be wary of any monsters looking to spoil the fun (i.e. Drolems).

    Rift Tennis (Mage-Only):
Create an anti-summoning channel and when your foe enters, nail him with Rift and bounce him back outside. Repeat until dead. This is particularly effective against monsters that teleport you away since most of the time they won't get a swing in depending on your speed. You might get unlucky a few times since rift doesn't always blink your enemy away, but it'll do.

    Stair-scum levels 2 & 3:
If you're looking to get an early jump on Morgy with a brand new character, scum levels 2 & 3. Any feeling of Unsure, Little Lucky, Good Feeling and above will usually yield an excellent item. Since there usually aren't OOD monsters or pits this low, the level feelings are very accurate.

That is all I can think of at the moment. Thanks again for all the advice over the past few months and happy 'banding!

Welcome! It is always good to see new players.

"Anti-Summoning Corridors" are a well-known tactic, especially useful against unique monsters who summon.

Wyrm farming is well-known. Greater Demon farming can also be productive if you have the appropriate immunities and are careful of summons.

"Stair-scumming" is seen by some to be cheating, although I don't usually find it too useful due to monster pits and other false positives.

Off the top of my head, the following gear has elemental immunities:

The Small Metal Shield of Thorin (acid)
          The Mace 'Taratol' (electricity)
          The Great-Axe of Eonwe (cold)
The Rings of Power 'Nenya', 'Narya', and 'Vilya' (fire, ice, and electricity, possibly not in that order)
          The One Ring (all four)

One of the cloaks also has acid immunity; Thingol, I think. Yeah, I could just go check the spoilers, but what fun would that be?

The practical upshot of this is that immunities are rare. They are quite nice to have, but you shouldn't count on them.

Edit: checked the spoilers, and I missed four artifacts granting immunity, and got the cloak wrong. Whoops! Four of the items were rare and/or crappy weapons, though, so I don't feel so bad.

Play with randarts. I have gotten acid immunity on an artifact by dlvl 30 in my last two games!

Ah, just remembered another one. Loading a Shield spell or a resist in MB5. If you have a decent enough mana pool you can cast a spell repeatedly and increase the duration significantly past the time it takes for you to rest until full.

Again, not sure how well known these tips are but being relatively new they are still a bit novel to me.

Three were also given immunities very recently, so you can be forgiven for not knowing those. You should have got Deathwreaker though!

To be quite honest, I was going to say that Doomcaller had an immunity, but then thought "No, that doesn't seem right; Doomcaller has massive damage bonuses, not an immunity." Completely forgot about Deathwreaker; the only Mace of Disruption artifact I can remember with any reliability is Skullcleaver (which I first encountered in Sangband, IIRC), whose name is just too silly for words.
