@ fph - i like the idea of rods of satisfy hunger ("of satiation"?). somewhat rare-ish, start showing up around, say, DL40-50.. that way it still takes up an inventory slot, doesn't totally obviate the need for scrolls and rations, and still makes the first chunk of ironman difficult, but should greatly help w/ end game (not that i've ever gotten that far in ironman)

Aren't those just junk to everyone except ironman warriors? For the ironman warriors, just up the frequency of waybread drops if you care.

ToME has "junk artifacts" that sit in your inventory and can be activated for various randomly-determined effects. Most of my characters end up carrying one that activates for satisfy hunger. So yes, I'd use such an item. Making it be a rod effect would seem more in-line with Vanilla's approach to magic.

i guess that's true. i still switch to a rod of recall when i find one, ditching my scrolls. i would do the same w/ my satisfy hunger scrolls if a rod option was available. one less thing to think about on trips to town, and its nice to have no fear of scrolls getting burned up. like derakon said, i almost always wind up carrying a satisfy hunger junkart when playing tome. but i guess satisfy hunger is pretty readily available in vanilla. it's hardly an earth-shattering measure, either way.

ToME has magic schools though, and satisfy hunger only through one of them, and spreading out is pretty severely punished by the skill system.
One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to bind them.
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness interrupt the movie.

Really though, isn't this just another item to sell for way more than it's actually worth.

I think worm masses, moulds, and jellies should leave behind edible bits. For added flavor they could drain life/cause poison/etc when consumed.

I say this mostly to annoy ironman players because I am terrible at ironman.

But seriously, who wouldn't want to eat the remains of a death mold?

Interesting Idea, but DL40-50 is way too late. I've been playing Angband for 3 years and never made it to such depths. I think if such devices could be found in DL20-30 they would be of more use.
