Would that mean that if you have a found-but-not-identified artifact, then you could find it again? Or is the code smart enough to avoid that?

I remember in Diablo 2 finding two copies of a set shield on the same screen...

I believe you can find it again if discarded, but I don't think a second will spawn while you have the first unidentified copy. This is an issue PowerDiver raised when ID-by-use was first implemented, that it was possible to use an artifact for extended periods of time without them counting as "spawned" for preservation purposes, so long as you don't completely or formally identify them.

Unless it was Sigon's Guard, I bet you just left them there!

Not any more. At least it shouldn't be that way. It is silly that you can use an artifact for half the game, fail to learn one sustain flag, and then it doesn't count as found for preserve purposes.

For preserve purposes, once you pick it up and see the name it should not be regenerated. That's one of the reasons for "sense artifacts on pickup". I've been pushing the principle that ID should be only about knowledge and never have a gameplay effect. I am pretty sure Takkaria agrees.

I was under the impression that this had been implemented by now with respect to preserve. Perhaps I am mistaken.

I agree but I'm not convinced that's the case. I could easily be mistaken as well but it bears investigation.

If this has already been mentioned than sorry.

Quiver issue. Displays right arrow counts in equipment screen but not in inventory.

Shouldn't "sense artifacts on pickup" better be "sense artifacts when walking upon them"? Otherwise, you'll end up very soon with people picking things up and then dropping them only to check if they are artifacts (I already do).

Noticing artifacts from afar with detect treasure/objects is too powerful, but I think "when walking upon them" would be a good change.

I am ambivalent about this but I think I agree.

With autopickup and correct quality squelch it would hardly matter.

This change to sensing is newer than the squelch code. We need to add a mark to an object to say that it is known not an artifact after pickup so you could quality squelch it without waiting for pseudo. We also need to decide whether to clutter the object description with that info.

Yes, this should be fixed. I already noticed I was picking things up and then having to drop them if they didn't show as artifacts. Just have to change it so that it'll squelch the item even before pseudo-ID triggers if you're set to "all but artifacts"...

                          All, 2 points..

I got a bug report playing this version, it said a dump of some sort created. I could only tell you wat my last button press was, anybody want me to get any files and if so how and where do they go. I couldn't recreate as I had uncovered quite a bit of the level.

Also I've heard mention of quivers, found that "h" gives me a quiver empty message, how do I load it up to use ?

So far so good, I've jumped from the last full release and like the new items !

It's not a bug. You created a dump of your character (c, f), which is a text file ("char dump"). That's what it was telling you. Ok so you created it accidentally, but it's not a bug.

nope...was definately a crash, possibly not of the gam,e, but I got a windows style message saying so, rather than an ingame message.
