I typically don't have any significantly OOD things happen (would be neat to increase it, but....)

I was just playing a priest in dlvl 8 and had the "superb" feeling. I figured it was a unique or two maybe...

I found 18 Seeker Arrows 4d4. Just found out they are (-5, -4), so they do the same damage as my enchanted normal arrows...

Typically I don't find my first seeker missiles until VERY deep...

Just found a ring of speed +7 on level 20 (dropped by an orc).
Last game I found a staff of *Destruction* on level 1. Superb feeling.
The one before that a Pseudo DSM on level 20ish. Superb feeling.
Those were my last 3 games.

BoS +10 around DL 7 was a lot of fun

One of my very first characters found Anduril somewhere around DL5. It made me gun-ho and I died soon after, but boy was it exciting.

In ToME my level 19 hobbit takes the first downstairs in the old forest, cracks open a small vault and out pops a freaking bone golem.

...okay, this could be a "whoosh" moment, but if you're actually serious, go turn off joke monsters (and Z/Cth monsters while you're at it). You're getting hit by the GWoP that guards Moldoux, a unique mold that shows up on DL1.

Relating to the topic, this doesn't actually qualify as "out of depth", since the GWoP is supposed to show up...if you kill the mold it's guarding.

Oangband, same thing, but i got a cloak of aman as well around 3. I sold it instead of IDing it.

in ToME, i once found ringil in the orc caves at DL ~20 w/ a hobbit rogue. died maybe 5-10 character levels later.

I got a potion of intelligence on dl 5. Was nice for my rogue, but he didn't live long.

Another character got a potion of experience at class level 20, which took him to class level 30. A rogue too, I think.

I did once find a Wicker Shield of Permanence around dlvl 5 or so.

I just found a staff of banishment in dlvl 12 a few minutes ago...

I can't remember which version of Vanilla I was playing, but I came across a Raal's Tome of Destruction spell book on the first dungeon level. Of course, I was playing a Half Troll warrior. The money was nice.
