        Level feelings should be fixed -- there is consensus that they are misleading or not terribly useful, although that is a long, long Angband tradition. Making them more useful or informative would make [V] better.

        Also, after that variants could safely put a useful autoscum option back in, satisfying hundreds of players.

            Since I'm a relatively new player, I'm interested actually behind the rationale of removing the autoscum option - anyone care to elaborate?

            Actually at the time of the decision I would too have opted to remove the option, yes (i'm with takkaria on the idea that less options are better), but defaulting it to ON .... am I that crazy? I think it would make for much more interesting games, and promote better play, from both divers and level clearers, no?

            EDIT : or maybe have it turned off for the first 20-25 dlvls , and then on for the deeper ones

              The contention was that autoscum created too many annoying things like jelly pits. If feelings were more accurate then it would make sense to try to generate many levels and take the "best" one.
