Stairscumming

There are no actual stairs. It's all just shadows on the walls of the Pits of Angband...
OMG I just woke up where did the stairs go
and why am I cut and stunned and surrounded by mysteriously accelerated time hounds
and why do I have no light source?
O right I'm not an amateur.

I think the safity of the stairs is a good thing... Safe places doesn't make the game wimpy, it gives the game contrast and makes the unsafe places more scary... Sure, we're in Mordor and all that, but why can't the stairs be small dimensional pockets of Shire??

Besides, you can just go play NetHack or Rogue if you want to play a game where exactly no place is safe and where you have to consider every move you make... Rogue actually have disconnected stairs as your only option!
