17 years later...winners with all six classes!

    Hi folks,

I'm a first time poster, though like many here I started playing back in the Moria days and have played Angband off and on since. About a month ago I randomly dropped by the site after about a five year lapse (med school, grrr) and was delighted to see the game *still* in active development, with a new beta to try no less!

It had always nagged in the back of my mind that I'd beaten Vanilla 5 times, once with each class except for Paladin. Well, after *much* enjoyment of the many great improvements and items in 3.1.1 (vs probably 2.8 or 9), my 4th Dwarven Paladin went all the way! As a bonus, this is only the 2nd time I've beaten the game without dying (I know, less legit, but at least I'm honest!)

I decided to post not because it's such an accomplishment, but just to marvel at how much entertainment I've gotten from this great game over the years. Thanks to all who've contributed!

A few notes on the save dump below...
-some amazing to-dam bonuses made many ego weapons/bows better than artifacts! I'm guessing this was boosted since I last played...
    -Ring of Speed +19...holy crap!
-the boots of speed +10 were *bought* in the regular armor store! My jaw really hit the floor at how low speed is priced in the current version, and I don't think I've ever seen boots of speed for sale in store 2 before.

    -Tom

Wow you found the boots of speed in the regular armorer? I've seen them only in the black market, and even then rarely.

So the title shuld say. 17 years later... and my second win

Winning after dying is pointless. Its a good way to learn the game but holds no value compared to winning without dying.

I agree its a lot of fun though

Any real winner is impressive, so congratulations. Out of curiosity, what was the other class you used to beat the game without dying?

Previously, I'd won with a half-troll warrior. As I recall, I found Ringil fairly early and sliced my way through to Morgoth without much difficulty.
