r1487 - Stats values randomly exchanged.

    Hello,

Here are two dumps of the same character. The second one is strictly posterior to the first one, with a 10000 turns interval between the two.

What kind of monster, scroll, potion did exchange the stats this way ?

    Self RB CB EB Best
    STR: 18/10 +1 +2 +2 18/60
    INT: 18/69 +3 +2 +5 18/169
    WIS: 14 -1 +0 +2 15
    DEX: 18 +3 +1 +9 18/130
    CON: 18/31 +1 +1 +2 18/71
    CHR: 12 +5 +1 +0 18

    Self RB CB EB Best
    STR: 14 +1 +2 +2 18/10
    INT: 18 +3 +2 +5 18/100
    WIS: 18/10 -1 +0 +6 18/60
    DEX: 18/69 +3 +1 +9 18/199
    CON: 18/31 +1 +1 +2 18/71
    CHR: 12 +5 +1 +0 18

    Thanks

    marteo

Edit : I'm absolutely certain that it is not a potion or a scroll... I'm always extremely carefully in this domain. A monster... or a bug must have done this.

Something hit you with a nexus breath weapon--probably a nexus hound.

Nexus has a bunch of random effects, including teleportation and stat swapping. There is no way to undo stat swapping--the only way to "fix" your character is to find a lot of strength/intelligence potions.

      "It breathes nexus."

This is why nexus resist has always been far too deep (problem dates back to the introduction of nexus hounds).
Zaiband: end the "I shouldn't have survived that" experience. V3.0.6 fork on Hg.
Zaiband 3.0.10 ETA Mar. 7 2011 (Yes, schedule slipped. Latest testing indicates not enough assert() calls to allow release.)
      Z.C++: pre-alpha C/C++ compiler system (usable preprocessor). Also on Hg. Z.C++ 0.0.10 ETA December 31 2011

        Okay, thank you.
I had encountered a few nexus hounds between the dumps.
I'll reconsider the importance of nexus resistance.

The usual solutions for nexus are boots of stability, Collanon (a cloak), and Isildur. There are others, but these are all fairly common.
