    Angband on PSP

I just aquired a brand new psp-3000, and would like to know if there are any recent versions of angband vanilla or otherwise that works on the psp.
The one I found are either corrupt or not starting at all.

I tried powder and vanilla, but it seems the most recent versions date from 2005 or 2006!

Thanks for any pointers. If I also could find any info on developping for the psp, I might try my hands on converting vanilla for the psp.

TOTALLY OFF TOPIC, but I like the signature. I've read something similar somewhere else as well. Not only can I read it, but I frequently write that way as well. I couldn't survive without a spell checker because I often don't catch my own jumbled word misspellings.

      What about the key mappings?

      Hi,

PSP has few buttons. Angband has a LOT of commands. I really wonder how this game would be playable without a huge interface rework. Spell casting, device usage, ranged attacks, object throwing and so on.

If you ever find something, post here please. I'd like to read and even (try to) play.

FA Angband is available on the PSP. (I believe Psi uses it as his primary platform.)

Sorry, no - on everything but the PSP. And yes, the commands would be difficult - both the Nintendo DS and WinCE devices use stylus input, but the PSP only has buttons and a control stick.

It seems that with the commands being accessible through a menu like on the current state of the 310 beta of vanilla I think it would be playable, dont you think

After a day of headbanging (I'm a newbie at this), I've managed to recompile mentioned PSP version of Angband from 2005 for the latest PSP CFW and got it running. It's quite playable with the on-screen keyboard and quick-access macros implemented, you pessimists
When I'll have another day to waste, I'll try to compile the latest version of vanilla and probably some variants after that.

Very nice that people are getting Angband to run on these mini-computers. I'm looking at getting a netbook simply so I can have Angband available while waiting in lines or for the kids to play. I'd probably buy a smartphone in a heartbeat if there was way to play Angband on it...

Well not really, as I'm quite busy, but I'll post sources & binary (eboot) tomorrow.
All you need is PSP SDK, sources with Abszero's additions (and few tweaks of mine) and a makefile I wrote.

As for the smartphone roguelikes - the only real roguelike I found and managed to get running on my phone (symbian) was Powder via GameBoy Advance emulator...

                        OK, here you go:
                        Angband_3.0.6.4_PSP.zip

Angband 3.0.6 for the PSP, recompiled for current firmwares (tested on M33-6).
Archive includes binary, sources and usage instructions.

Full credits go to Abszero and Gendal, I'm just the re-compilation guy.

What version of Symbian do you use? My phone uses S60 3rd ed. (Nokia E90). There's a version of SDL for S60, so I was hoping that it could be as simple as rewriting main-sdl.c and compiling. Would you be interested in collaborating on that?
