Just read a scroll of Acquirement from the floor and got: nothing. I thought this bug had been fixed a long time ago.

Ah, but I haven't squelched anything that can be an ego item. only scrolls and potions, and only the bad ones.

So did I. If anyone else has this happen, turn off Hide Squelched Items to make sure it really did generate nothing at all.

I just tried reading one from the floor, dev 1379 base, and it worked just fine. The item probably will drop into an adjacent square because it drops before the scroll is deleted, but I don't think there is anything more to it than that.

I don't think there was ever a bug with ?acq from the floor. The bug was reading rune of protection from the floor.

There once was a bug in ?acquirement from the floor, but I can't remember which version, or variant. In any case, no item was created this time.

They may not be bugged anymore, but in every game i found them, by the point i read them the item they gave me was always worse than what i already had (same for *acquirement*) - possibly we should reduce a bit native depth?
