Rationale for new stat gain model?

The new stat gain model (+1 when BASE < 18; +10 when base >= 18) means that stat gain takes a lot longer to get to 18/80, which I feel is more important than taking less time to get to 18/100. (18/80 is where a lot of my stats would usually end up.)

Is there a reason for this? The extra points in cost-based starting stats makes up for some of this. But not all. And getting !Aug used to mean quite a bit more than it does now.

Also, nexus breathers are quite a bit more dangerous, as the less important stats take a LOT longer to get to 18/xx from 10.

The reason is because I'm going to be moving the internal scale for stats to one which is linear, and that is a precursor to that.

One possible easy boost would be to allow the 1 or 2 point gain, rather than just 1, after you get past 18.

Or before (which was previously the case).

          I'd be happy with that.

Yeah, that sounds like it would be pretty good... the stat gain does get a bit slow right in that area, and it's a hindrance at times...

So I like your evolution from the current precursor, Takkaria. =]

Was there a change before? I had not noticed. I was suggesting that the 1-or-2 continue past 18, not that it be switched.

Yes, it has changed. It took me a while to notice, until I quaffed !Augmentation.
