When will there be a new official (non-beta) release? Or maybe a new beta with a fix for the Vista missing walls problem? I'm not trying to be pushy, merely curious. I'd like to try the updated version, but refuse to look at the makeshift graphics for the walls.

NPP has a solution for this in their lastest beta. Maybe you could take a look. Sorry, I'm not a programer, I just like playing Angband and variants.

Hmm...not to sure what the issue is for you. I'm playing 3.0.1 right now on Vista64 and I have walls. ?? 3.0.1 is the first one I've not had to edit to get walls functional though.

Yes, but I prefer the block walls to the ugly ### walls. Hurts my eyes

See this post. Note that using a different 8x13 font is not (as far as I'm aware) possible in Vista, because it insists on its own. You will need to get one of the different size fonts, and adjust your font-win.prf (or use the interact with visuals option, or the feature editor in the ~ feature knowledge menu).

As far as non-beta releases go, I believe takkaria's plan is that all the 3.1.x releases will be beta, to indicate that there is significant change and rebalancing going on. I know he plans to get an SDL based windows port going; that may well fix the font issues.
