I don't like them, not because they are dangerous so much, but because there are so many of them and they take so long to deal with.
I've no problems with doing the luring them out and dealing with them one by one trick, but when you have to do it 20-30 times for one pack it starts to get a bit dull. Finally when they've been dealt with you go into the next room and then there's another pack of them and you have to do it all over again.
They probably aren't so bad for mage types with detect monster spells, but for playing warriors you tend to stumble into them over and over again. And then of course they do become dangerous since you become a bit bored and careless.
