Depth of object discovery

Does anyone know if https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugr...cgi?bug=782437 ever still happens? I know there were very occasional glitches with this in the 3.5.x era but have been away so don't know if it was every explicitly found and fixed.

It's about the fact that the data on where you found an object sometimes gets zeroed, so it says "found under some rubble in town" instead of "dropped by a foo on level X".
