I'm playing a ranger, currently at CL 40. I usually keep two books of Lesser Magics on me, and if one burns up I can always pick up a second one when in town. I've also accumulated 4 or 5 books of Nature Craft, which has the essential endgame spells. The description says they can't be destroyed by fire. Is there anything else that could destroy them? I'd rather not lug around a bunch of books or have them take up space in my home.

Harowen. I once lost my only copy of magic book 5 ("Resistsnces of Scarabtrices") to Harowen and spent a very long time getting it back.Comment

Harowen is a prime target for ranged attacks. He doesnt resist many things so even that poison ammo works on him and he doesnt have much health. Normally I get him early, as soon as I meet him on reasonably favourable terrain and have a speed buff available, with the main benefit being that the most dangerous thief is out of the way. His drops are only a secondary concern.Comment

Sure, if you have the right ammo and enough haste and phase door. But it just takes one double-move after an unfotunate phase.Comment
