Equipment? And how bad is aggravation?

I'm diving slowly with this mage and I think I have a real chance of winning.

I have some stuff I really want to wear, but it aggravates creatures.

So how bad is aggravation? And how important is esp? (I admit to really liking it, but should I neglect a resistance to have it?)

Aggravation will get you killed unless you know it won't. Since you're asking ...

The time for aggravation is when you are so deep, there are no out of depth monsters.

I would definitely give up a resistance for ESP, except for FA.

a high level Mage can afford to aggravate if he has ESP, rpois, and Kelek's, although I would also want 550+ HP. You can just *destruct* or banish whenever you see a situation that is remotely dangerous.

Aggravation with ESP is okay for me, if the char is advanced enough and has high con.
One of my two paladin winners was using a weapon of fury with aggravation.
