    Lantern of Shadows

So I have found a relatively early lantern of shadows (quite useful for a kobold necromancer) I notice that it is fueled up. I'm wondering what happens when it runs out of fuel. Does it light even less than it does now (aka will my lighting in the dark go from -1 to -4) or will it stop darkening?

Just something I hadn't thought of previously.

Good question. A fuelled lantern adds 2 to your light radius, but then if it's a lantern of shadows it magically reduces your light radius by 4. Then if it runs out of fuel, it just does nothing, so it's as if you aren't wielding it.

Wasn't there some malaise to a necro having light? I've used a lantern of true sight, sans fuel, to good effect. Darkening rooms when I came to a lighted one. If I recall there's a light spill into the doorway that was a pain, but other than that, it's a good combo. Wish the artifact lights could be better used by a necro. How about bringing back the Palantir, tweaked a bit so as to be a useful item for necros, but a slight malaise to other classes?

But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”
