    Fire Festival vault

    So in our multiplayer variant, a player got obliterated with -5000 HP death when spawning on a level right next to this absurd vault. In V you would have exactly one turn to react (I think).

    /me thinks something should be done to prevent player from spawning next to a zillion major demons...

    That's one of the more porous vaults (plenty of '%'s where corridors can connect and those will likely have line of sight to the nasties). Turning a bunch of the '%'s into '#'s, preferably so an incoming corridor enters into a corner or alcove that isn't in the line of sight of everything, would help.

    A more generic solution, slapping NO_STAIRS flags on <x> thick borders around all (or just some?) vaults is also fairly easy to implement and would be enough to keep a starting location found by find_start() <x> or more grids away from a vault.
