    Should arrows/shovels be 'good'?

I was thinking the following shouldn't be considered 'good' (i.e. considered
    for drop_good / drop_great )

    case TV_DIGGING:
    case TV_BOLT:
    case TV_ARROW:

    What do the masses think?

You can't win the lottery with every drop!
Sometimes a 'good' shovel really comes in handy (for digging your own grave).

Not every drop, just when the RNG decides it is going to create a 'good' object. Like vaults or monsters with DROP_GOOD or DROP_GREAT flags.

a stack of firebrand arrows is a lot better than a slay Orc weapon. The first can take down several dangerous and/or good drop uniques in the midgame. The latter is just worth about 2/3 of a staff of teleportation in the magic shop.

I agree that good shovels aren't much use, but the ego diggers can be very useful. A shovel
Of earthquakes can get you multiple blows and keep you from being slowed.

I'd rather pick up a stack of good non-ego ammo than the 20th copy of a dungeon spellbook.
