    ability interaction

    I'll post a few & ask a few:

charge + two weapon fighting: charge bonus only on primary weapon
charge + assassination: charges, does not assassinate
    charge + flanking (& +sprinting): all stack
opportunist + concentration: does this work?
throwing mastery: only power/finesse/pole-arms mastery/momentum? (in a way I think charge should work here but doesn't)
block vs orc warrior charge: what's the correct timing?
charge + rapid attack: only 1 charge attack?
two weapon fighting + parry: double bonus only on primary weapon

Edit: I'd find a cross-table added into the manual helpful.

    Charge + flanking + knockback (+ momentum + sprinting + dodge) =

Flanking + sprinting + stealth = problems, when you would like to trigger a flanking attack on unaware opponent (without losing your speed), was changed to make high stealth chars more playable but bad side effect here

Riposte + concentration = problems, when fighting against more than one opponent

Orc warrior charge afaik needs be blocked the turn after they came close to you (just before they get their charge attack), however, against a strictly limited number of orcs "walking into the charge" is more efficient - with flanking you don't even lose a turn and may be able to negate charges almost completely even against several orcs, without the orc only gets a normal attack for free instead of an improved one, which is still worth it in my experience. It doesn't work against diagonal charges.

One that I like is polearm mastery + knockback. Works nicely if you stand around a corner so approaching enemies can't see you. They'll keep walking into your polearm, getting knocked back, and repeating until they get stabbed to death. You can take focused attack for this too, it won't affect knockback chances though.

I never played high-evasion archers, ... but this time I found the Shortsword of Galadriel (my favourite sword in the game). Now I wondered about point blank archery, but had to realise I would lose a lot of bonus damage from riposte by having it.

Yeah riposte can get quite ridiculous when firing point-blank. Particularly if you have crowd fighting & a lot of armour. I ended up quitting my "6 armed" elf because he played to much like a comic book superhero. He was managing to use a bastard sword/long-bow & kite shield at the same time while parrying/riposting a crowd of enemies. Just felt too silly.

It might make sense to have firing a bow (or throwing an item???) disable all free melee hits until your next turn.

Anyone tried riposte with crowd fighting & exchange places? I'm thinking of going power/follow through/momentum, parry/riposte/crowd fighting & exchange places. It's a str 4 elf with 2lb mithril nagorthrond & 3lb mithril doriath blade + a heap of armour and high con so he may be able to belt in the open. Shame follow through won't work with riposte though.

What is the interaction? All useful abilities, but I don't see what the special interaction is supposed to be. Even if you get riposte on opponents free attack in exchange places, you did not gain anything over a direct attack. For high evasion I would either combine with flanking/dodging as well or do corridor fencing (parry, riposte, concentration, subtlety with a deathblade or nice shortsword). With a heavier build (heavy armour, hardiness, critical resistance) planning to be surrounded (crowd fighting) I would very much do whirlwind (and carry aggravation around).

Yeah was counting how they fit together as an interaction here.

This would be easier if windows stopped crashing long enough to upload my character.

Seems to me whirlwind attack requires the worst situation - no walls. Better as a panic attack for when you get caught then a situation to aim for. Riposte, crowd fighting & exchange places seems a better emergency measure, works from the corner & against a wall.

Strangely you can get high evasion, protection & stealth. You just need a shadow cloak, double deflection on a kite/mithril shield & sneaky boots. I'm at [+19, 5-19] with a crown & 13 stealth from 6 stealth pts and 10 evasion. The only thing that would improve evasion/stealth would be a lighter shield & changing out of mail. I'm hoping the high evasion and crowd fighting will save me having to buy critical resistance.

Edit: Windows decided to play nice, so here's the skeleton of the build: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=16745

Curious about a few other interactions.

Whirlwind attack + charge: is there a charge bonus?
Whirlwind attack + two-weapon fighting: second weapon does not seem to attack.
Concentration + flanking: does a move-attack qualify for the purposes of "attacking the same enemy"?
Whirlwind attack + concentration: same question.
Zone of control + concentration: does an attack of opportunity against a different enemy break concentration?
Zone of control + focused attack: do ZoC attacks on a "passed" turn break the "pass"?

I can't answer all of these, but concentration computes all bonus attacks afair. So it doesn't really combine well with those, but then with concentration I fight in corridors most of the time anyway.

The easiest way to check is to go in to cheat mode give yourself a mass of xp buy all the abilities and selectively turn them on & off then look at the combat roll window.
