Dagger of Azaghal?
I mean what's the point? (+1, 1d6) 1 lb dagger. Slays dragons. (Goodie, now it does almost as much as a long sword against dragons.) Resists fire and fear. (Goodie, now a useless weapon that I'd never wield in any fight provides me with resistances I might want in a fight.)
And when you find it, that's one little point against you for finding any other artifacts. Hey, if you guys want that mechanic in there, that's the effect. Artifacts should be at least decent. Otherwise it's just mean.Last edited by BlueFish; April 23, 2014, 07:34. -

I think daggers in general are way too weak. Some of them have ridiculous abilities to counteract this, but Azaghal is just double-fine with two resistances and a slay, which is a good artifact on a good base item, but on a terrible base item its a bad artifact.
On the other hand, making all artifacts really good is a Bad Idea for the Bad Ideas thread. There are already too many good artifact weapons that make Weaponsmithing sort of pointless, let's have a few situational ones mixed in. Is it really worse than the Broken Sword of What's-his-face?
EDIT: The other daggers are: quintuple fine with sharpness (the second most powerful ability in the game after great speed), and double sharpness (double the second most powerful ability in the game). And even then, the first is sort of marginal.Comment

Bad ideas? Cool.
Loremaster should give you all the xp from every artifact in the game as soon as you take it and the xp from viewing monsters... Or conversely, no experience from artifacts or viewing monsters thereafter. Choose one.
Same concept for enchantment, jewlry, etc...You are on something strangeComment

There is certainly truth to this, but if you play a high strength novelty build, weaponsmithing can come in very handy. I rarely find any bow better than a 4 lb +1 longbow. Mattocks of Belegost also almost single-handedly justify an investment in Weaponsmith. They are rare enough that you can't trust you'll ever find one in the dungeon.Comment

Bluefish: The idea of 'bad ideas' threads is that you propose fake funny feature requests that are unbalanced/overpowered. Already existing bad ideas don't count! (Or rather, they deserve their own thread where they will be discussed more appropriately)

Now that we have chasms, we could add a minigame where if you start an Edain and name him 'Turin', there's a chance on a chasm level to find a unique named Saeros who you must kill by chasing him off a cliff.Glaurung, Father of the Dragons says, 'You cannot avoid the ballyhack.'Comment
