    crash on reading unknown scroll

I'm playing version angband-4.0.3-384-gb14d9ec which is afaik the most up-to-date rune-based id version (which is great btw). Using the windows version but running it on linux with wine.
I have a currently unid scroll in my inventory, char is in town. When I try to read the scroll, angband suddenly jumps to using one processor at 100% capacity. Doesn't get anywhere after waiting a couple of minutes. Angband is not responding when force quitting it. Crash reproduces every time I try to read the scroll, simple things like dropping it and picking it back up don't change anything.
I have the save file but I'm not sure how to upload it.

Save would be good. You need to zip the file, reply to the thread, and then hit the Manage Attachments button and browse to the zipped file.

Attached the save file. Didn't know zipping would do the trick.
It is not a scroll of remove curse, I have identified these already. I have identified about 2/3 of all scroll types, char has been down to about dungeon level 50.

OK, thanks - scroll is trap creation, and the game hangs because it's trying to find a trap it can place in the town and there aren't any. This is very bad coding on my part

Sounds good, you pinpointed the problem and hopefully it is easy to fix. In game I will just read the scroll in the dungeon.

If you can... try to read it in Nowhere Town. I hear that all scrolls are hugely enhanced there .

Might have a hard time finding that town in Vanilla, but it does exist in FAangband.

But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”
