    editing artifact list on macbook

Hey guys, first time poster...anyone know how to create artifacts or edit artifact list in macbook (OSX Yosemite)?

I can't open data file like I did on PC. Just need to figure out how to get to the code. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right-click on Angband.app, select "View Package Contents", and then go Contents -> Resources -> gamedata.

Also, if you want to use a different artifacts.txt, you can either edit in place, or put an edited copy in Documents/Angband - the game checks there first.

Anyone know what it means when artifact says # F: DRAIN_MANA |

For example, in my version (Angband v3.0), all the The Rings of Power have # F: DRAIN_MANA | in artifact.txt file as their first 'flag'.

I'm assumed this meant drains your character's mana which would be unfortunate,
but didn't see it in list of characteristics when searched on http://angband.oook.cz/artifacts.php?q=Narya&t=&w=&v=

The '#' at the start of the line is the symbol used for adding comments to the code - it tells the game to just skip over that line and ignore it instead of trying to read it as code. So those are artifacts that used to have the DRAIN_MANA flag, but since that flag isn't in use anymore, that part of the code has been commented out so the game will just ignore it. (I guess the only reason it's even still there in the file is as a reminder of which artifacts used to have that flag in case it's ever brought back, but at the moment it's not doing anything and you could even delete those lines without it making any difference.)

Oh excellent!, because all my characters (high elf mage) needs is another ring. Glad it won't be draining my mana.
