Good catch. When you pick up items using the 'g' key instead of ',', autopickup is not triggered, and it's that feature that processes gold. I'll fix that for next version.

RNG seems to be in a foul mood, at least for my characters. Uniques so far have all dropped... weapons.

With a Dragon Monk, you will die a lot, even if you're used to the game. There are two big leveling bottlenecks: levels 1-4 and 31-34. You won't be able to use weapons and heavy armor, which limits your options for stats and resists.

So far, I've only passed level 10 three times. I've posted the two level 19 and 21 deaths I had. I'm currently playing a law drake breed (probably the best one you can get with water dragon), almost level 30, which spared every penny found in the dungeon to be able to buy an Amulet of Telepathic Awareness from the Expensive BM. This should make things much easier. Let's see how this one goes...

Taking it slow, not concerned with my turncount just having fun and exploring. Got my Multihued dragon up to 42 now. I really like the huge amount of powerful artifacts in the game, and the fact that you can't keep a lot of them "you can't drop certain artifacts in your house, have to wear them or sell them". So far iv'e found a set of gloves with +1 shooting speed a pair of boots with acid immunity and 2 armors with cold immunity. I have an experience draining/aggravating ring of power with cold and lightning immunity equipped as a swap.

I've remapped most of my macros to make reactions a little easier. My panic button is 0, and shift 0 "in case i'm holding down run". Any time i enter a new level, either stairs or recall. I keep one finger on a teleport/destruct key, and the other on detect. If i don't see something that can kill me in a few moves or chain summon i use rod of detection, otherwise i escape.

Few things that have changed from my playing in angband. I now leave Q's alone, i treat them like a pit bull with rabies and mouths full of bees, sure i could probably take them out its just not worth the trouble. I let them have whatever part of the dungeon they are in, or if i have to teleport/destuct them away (hardly ever worth it) assume these guys will kill you.

The other thing that's helped immensely is using a wand of Stone to Mud, i used to just use these just for anti summoning corridors or vaults. Now if i'm going down a hallway and something appears or attacks me, i quickly just knock a hole in the wall, and move in, now line of sight for the attackers is blocked and you have a bit of breathing room, to either heal/buff up, escape
or create a corridor to fight in.

And finally "well probably not " Do not pick a fight with a Sky Drake" even under perfect conditions these guys will kill you. I should have known this from playing a Beastmaster in Poschengband but they have a Gravity breath and summon really powerful dragons. I found this out when fighting one in an ASC, fully buffed double resisted and 28 speed. He breathed gravity and All of the sudden i was out in the middle of the room surrounded by Ancient D's and Wyrms, only reason i lived is he breathed gravity again and knocked me out of Los. I was left with 85hp, and a newfound respect for these guys.

Sorry about the long post, but i like to ramble

Ok I changed my mind... Version 1.1.9 build 4 now has in-game dumps. I quickly coded something to make it happen and this won't be the same as next version (it's very basic).

I'll update my web page this evening when I come back home with latest client and server. Since the competition is almost over, and Dragon Monk combo levels the slowest, there will surely be characters that are alive at the end of the competition... and suiciding doesn't generate a dump. So stay tuned...

And I saw you won the game with your character. Congrats...

Get an updated version of client + server here: http://sdrv.ms/ZYw2xf

This update allows to generate dumps while still alive. For this version, I simply added a prompt when pressing ')' to generate a character dump instead of a screenshot. Press 'y' to confirm and get your dump from /lib/user.

Competition 140 is now officially over; congratulations to UglySquirrell for the only game winner (although PowerWyrm went close).
