I meant to mention this last competition, but I think for future Sil comps you should start with 50' cleared, or with stairs down in sight so you don't need to run through the same first floor always. Appreciating the boots of stealth on this 50' anyways.

Found some interesting stuff in my first few attempts, shadow cloak on 100' (dropped by an orc thief) and a lesser jewel on 150', quite odd stuff.

Ha, I said the same thing. If a large portion of the experience hadn't of been spent on archery, I would've tried archerless. I didn't get too far with my 2 or 3 archerless attempts with that guy.

I think there's some merit in the idea here, but at least the way the game currently works the random seed is part of the save game. This would mean that if you started in the same room as the stairs it would be pretty easy to do exactly the same first few moves and end up with the same second level.

(The current behaviour is useful for bug fixing; it is just competitions where you might play the same file multiple times and it can be frustrating.)

I've tried many different builds and have got down to 700ish several times. The most successful have been stealth-based archers. The problem is that with just two Con, any engagement can be fatal. Greater werewolves are awful with their perception, speed and melee ability - that cost me my last char from a very promising position.
