Amulets of DOOM are awesome (sometimes). They need a new name.
Also, wouldn't mind seeing a higher concentration on baddies in the wilderness since it so much smaller now.

They start off as sticky cursed, a minus to all stats and a chance of more curses. Then, like all jewellery, they get stuff added until they fulfil their base potential - which roughly depends on their 'level' (Chalcedony is lowest, Diamond is highest). Then they get another chance to lose all their good properties. So they can be good...

That is what hard mode is for.

Cool. For awhile there Hard Mode was almost more trouble than its worth. A lot of vaults and OOD monsters with crappy drop vs risk ratio. Now I'm getting tons of Legendary Hobbit Rogues trying to rob me. Fun. I'm also getting a lot of dangerous pits right next to each other. And I'm using hardmode exclusively for this game. I usually never play with disconnected stairs...but I have to say that it really doesn't make a difference. Honestly you forget about the stairs after awhile.
So if anyone didn't get that, comp 131 has officially finished. Congratulations to Psi for winning, and to clouded for a game winner; commiserations to Fendell Orcbane who won just after the competition closed.

I half expected to wake up to find I'd been overtaken on exp/turn given that the comp rules would allow playing on after beating Morgoth...
