    So then, we're of the consensus that anything that is not exactly room temperature through and through is detectable via infra-vision. Excellent then, I shall make the necessary preparations (and don my fanciest hat) .

      (NPP) Here's a minor quibble that I've noticed in other variants as well, a wand/rod/spell of light beam doesn't illuminate the grid that the character is standing on.

        (NPP) Along the same lines, but I'd classify this as a bug. The druid spell Create Terrain has the same flaw. It creates native terrain all about the druid except for the grid he is standing on. That's a big lapse if he was looking forward to casting natural escapes.

        Also, regarding balance. STM 5 mana, Clear Area only 7 mana. Maybe I've yet to understand the full implications of Clear Area, but it seems a little cheap on mana.

        The Disenchanter Bat graphic (32x32 tiles) isn't showing, at least in the detect monsters list, even though everything pertaining to it seems to be configured properly. I wonder if it has something to do with this (ATTR_MULTI).

          (NPP) Regarding clear area once again. It would be really nice if illumination would work on a 'cleared area' as it does on cavern type rooms.

            Good point. I will get it to work that way soon. Somebody got me distracted with creating a 32x32 tileset for NPP.

            I am relieved to see only a couple minor bug reports on NPP as a result of the Comp. The version of NPP used for the competition actually has a rather serious bug related to quests, but fortunately that option has been turned off in the comp savefile. So this version should be discarded after the comp is over.

              Competition 114 is now officially over - congratulations to ewan for the only game win, and 600 of 675 monster races killed.

              Note that comp 115 has about 4 days left.

                See, now that's a competition. 18 entries and only 1 winner (and even that seems a little high).

                  {I am just getting around to fixing some of the bugs reported from the comp}

                  I checked the code, and it does turn the cleared area into a room, but it didnot do the walls surrounding the room. I changed it so it automatically lights upthe room. It does create kind of an irregular starburst room, no not every little corner lights up until you walk into LOS, but that is regular behavior for starburst rooms.

                    I changed to it stone-to-mud is 4 mana, and clear area is 9. Clear area has some risk in that it could suddenly give a clear spellcasting path to several mosters that were previously not in LOS of the player.

                      I would up making most of the snakes, frogs, and lizards cold blooded. Not the fire-breathing ones liek salamanders and basilisks, obviously, but the "normal" ones.

                        I think this is from Vanilla as well, but I changed it so it says "you have trouble aiming your {bow/crossbow/sling as appropriate}.
