    Competition 102

Competition 102 is now available from the competition page; it is a DaJAngband 1.3.1 Human Tourist.

Note that Comp 101 has just under 24 hours to go.

32x32 Tile Users: As is usually the case, Will made changes to the terrains that necessitate changes to graf-dvg.prf for some doors and a few other things to display properly.

If you play with 32x32 tiles, you'll want the latest update from mediafire.com/buzzkill. It's not perfect, but it's better.

I'm assuming that no-one has randomly ported this to os x, right?

I had a go at compiling it, but it looks like it requires significant changes.

Can't we all promise not to not to that up staircase (as I was doing already)... and/or in the meantime you can secretly switch the file with a fixed one. You also have roguelike keys turned on (and a bunch of other options I can't stand ).

Having fun being forced to play a version I don't usually play (NPP or Zang).

Play Zang during my lunch break at work, Lvl 50 Vamp Monk, mostly hunting uniques. Always need to remind myself to slow down when switching to Arthur.

Almost forgot to dial it down today. Met Uvatha 21 LVLs OOD (41 vs 20), he took half my HP and 300 xp in one round, so I TO'd him grabbed my stuff and ditched.
So far, my only Art is my Shovel. This is HARD!

Sorry about that. I'll try to remember to change the options to more standard settings next time I submit a comp.
It wouldn't be right to change the savefile a week into the comp though, especially with randarts (it would have to be a new game since disconnected stairs is a birth option, and therefore a different set of randarts so we can't do that.).

It probably won't matter, but I noticed it isn't showing turncount for anyone past Day 9. oook probably can't read it because the 'Day' text and the number run together (I'll fix that for next release).
I might prefer score be shown rather than turncount (because turncount isn't viewable by the player anywhere in the game anymore. It only uses time.) but I guess that'd be messy combined with older versions of DAJ on the ladder from before I switched to using time rather than turns.
Maybe I'll make turncount a little more of a factor in the score seeing that Hudstone has a higher score than buzzkill while they're the same clevel and Hudstone has taken over 3x the time to get there.

EDIT: It's amusing hearing about people getting attached to the dust bunnies. I knew they were in there for a reason.

Competition 102 is now officially done, and despite small glitches in the scoring William Hamaker is the clear winner. Congratulations!
