Now that I have speed, what to do?

I'd taken a break from Angband over most of the summer, but I'm back again and trying out the new dev version of vanilla. This is pretty much the first time I've ever played a warrior, and I think it's the second deepest game I've ever played in vanilla. Up until a few levels ago, I've been making a distinct effort to descend as quickly as I can, and it's been working well.

Things have been fairly uneventful so far - no artifacts yet. At one point I found a plain gold ring and got all excited for a second, but it turned out to be just a ring of see invisible - there's a bug. I just found a speed ring +7 (best I've ever found) and a lantern (finally!) just a couple minutes ago. I've been enjoying seeing all these new objects - like a {cursed} ring of Free Action. It was tempting to use temporarily....

Anyway, is there anything I'm missing? I have a feeling tha elemental resistances would be the big thing right now. I know that the old Angband Newbie Guide says that I should have rBase and rPoison twenty levels ago, but I haven't ran into anything too nasty so far. The old TANG seems painfully dangerously conservative so I haven't been following it much at all. Now that I have a bit of speed, can I go deeper? Should I be concentrating on increasing my stats at this point? I've only found a small handful of stat potions so far - but I hear that's to be expected if playing the dev version these days.

I've a wand of TO in my house; I haven't been carrying it around because the failure rate is so bad it's basically worthless. I need more INT to fix that, right?

I rather miss having a monster detection spell - but I'm getting used to it.

Also, I picked up some adamantite from the ground as a bug - and now I can't get rid of it!

Any other general advice to prepare me for what's to come would be most appreciated. TIA!

You do not necessarily need int, as cLevel will help too. I would have guessed you could use the wands by now. For the rods, you will need both levels and int.

I posted a way to drop the money using a couple of compiles in some other thread I think in the last month but do not remembr where. Ah, I found it.

I haven't found any TO wands yet - but thanks for the info. That link works too - back to full inventory again!

at that depth you really need detect evil if you don't hand ESP and/or detection. There are a lot of monsters that can kill you with a single breath. Fortunately they arealmost all evil.
