    4.2.1 Paladin WIP

    I have been playing 4.2.1 now for a while, and have gotten fairly deep, and finally feel ready for a WIP with this character.

    Halad XI is off to a great start, having found a solid randart boot at 600' and then shortly after finding a shining dragon scale mail at 750'.

    Nice start!

    That dragon armor can be activated for dragon-breath. It does a big amount of damage for your depth! Use it against uniques (first shot) and pack of monsters.

    There is plenty of room to improve your rings. You have nice AC, so you can wield a ring of reckless attacks (or even two) without losing too much armor.

    Carry some scrolls of recharging, and use them to recharge the teleport staff if it's empty.

    Most of the time I carry a stack of 20 potions (if strong enough) of cure light wounds and use it like a quick-regeneration tool.

      Down to DL27, found a phial and =dmg +9, which has led me to replace the shining dragon scale mail with a nice suit of augmented chain mail of resistance to cover all of my basic resists.

      Never really have used any =reckless attacks, and have yet to even find one so far.

        ring of STR should be your next target, as you don't want to get stuck with drained strength once the levelling starts to slow down. It's a good thing you got SI though, should you should be good to go below DL30. Watch out for basilisks.

            Keep the scroll of tele level in your inventory. It can save your life.

                  Great start, but...

                  YASD.

                  Thought I could handle a mature multi-hued dragon.

                  I thought wrong.

                  So, back to the beginning. Will start another WIP once I get to a point where it is interesting.

                  The irony is I just dropped that suit of elvenkind armor in my house with r-poison.

                        I thought wrong.
                        So, back to the beginning. Will start another WIP once I get to a point where it is interesting.
                        The irony is I just dropped that suit of elvenkind armor in my house with r-poison.
                        Oops.
                        The bad thing is that you had all base resists covered twice as i see (armor with all 4 and pendant giving 3 + shield). So you could have easily switched to another armor. Either to the elvenkind or to the dragon armor which can weaken the multi-hued dragon making his breath doing less damage.

                          Have made it down to DL33, and finally started finding a few good things other than book 2.

                          Got a couple of early artifacts. Could really use a better weapon right about now.
