    still alive...

After struggling a little in the DL40s my Half Troll warrior is healthier than ever (was 937hp at CL38). Now on DL71 and been rocking a ring of the mouse since DL57 which has been quite useful. Speed is around 7 (or 5 if I wear Colluin for rPois and activation).

Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

Found a bunch of _*destruction* charges which I don't normally use in my games but since this @ hasn't been very powerful I have had to resort to unorthodox methods of play (such as the ring of the mouse).

Well, I can now officially call myself an advanced player of Angband. (Can I get a badge?) Why, you ask? Well, because I did some advanced stone to mud tactics to kill 4 druj's in an Undead pit. I did get into their line of sight twice, but considering there was 4 of them, I did pretty good. Here is a video of it in case you want to try doing this yourself. It's not easy to figure out where to stand to beam the stone to mud so that you can hit them but they can't see you, but I sort of talk through it in the video.

Really nice gameplay to take out these drujs, learned a lot about LOS in the video. But it's a shame you didn't get any good drops out of it.

Holy smokes. Had a near death experience when I wholly underestimated a grove of ancient multihued dragons. Thought I could take them wearing Colluin. Not so much.... Was breathed to 0hp right after gaining CL42 (for a max hp of 1006). So my hp read 0/1006. But... not dead. This outing is probably more a demonstration of how not to play than anything else. I do like to push the envelope.

You'd have done fine if you activated Colluin. In that case poison damage tops out at 166HP. Colluin is a phenomenal artifact, especially since so few spellcasters get double resistance anymore.

Oh man, that was some reckless play. You're on completely different mood here compared to that careful druj elimination process.

Would've been fine had you just dug a killhole and switched something for the mouse ring (yes, I forget that also and with terrifying frequency).

At least I learned here, that full HP AMHD breath (fire) can chew 111 HP away through double resistance. I thought the max was a little under 100 HP.

I thought it was a little under 100, too, but I just realized why it can be above and that is the variability of the average max hitpoints of monsters. 2400hp is the average for AMHDs, but there is at least 10% of variability to it (maybe even more?), meaning 2740 is possible. I'm not sure the formula for hitpoint generation, but I always forget about that variability. Something to keep in mind! 2740 hitpoints means fire breathing of 101 is possible, but I got hit by something like 111 which would mean its hitpoints were at 3,000.

I'm on DL88 trying to raid a 9-9 vault and I come upon a balance dragon scale mail in the vault and as soon as I see it disappears, so I'm wondering who could have picked it up? And might have one of the Horned reapers that Lungorthin summoned crushed whoever picked it up? There were a few giants that came out of the vault.

I looked up the hitpoint distribution and there is a standard deviation of approx. 1/8 of the average hp. The cap is at +-4 std deviations so for an AMHD this means max. hp of ~3200, which results to 119 dmg with double resists. although only 1 in 65536 instances of the monster will have this many hp. Looks like the one that breathed on you was at least 2 std devs from the mean, so less than a 2.5% chance of getting breathed for that much dmg.
One minor thing to add is that these randomized hp do not apply to uniques, these will always have the max hp as given in monster.txt

It is done. Morgoth cowered under the crushing blows of the Glaive of Pain. Done rather quickly, too:
