    Oops. *Destroyed* Morgoth

But not in the way I meant to.

I used a destruction scroll. I didnt even have to, I should have just blinked. I couldnt see him but he had LOS because he blasted me with heavy damage spells 3 or 4 times in a row.

Here's the part that should be good for a laugh if he's gone for good. It's an ironman game.

Will he ever be regenerated? He's not in the dungeon, ive been back and forth across it 5x. Guess I should have used that scroll before he was around. I didnt know it would vanish him permanently (if it did, Im tired of waiting though).

The really crappy thing is that I would have beaten him. My mistakes in previous ironman tries were diving too quickly without consumables, figuring Id pick them on the mid 90s levels but then being forced to dive and then being shorthanded for Morgoth.

This time I was meticulous. A billion turns. I stopped diving and cleared most levels from about 85 on. Not the way I prefer to play but I was determined to win with forced descent just once. A very, very, dumb mistake reading that scroll. I was in no real jeopardy, but I was wasting healing potions.

So... any chance he's coming back? Or did I add to the dumbest move ever list.

He will eventually regenerate, yes. It can take a while--rest 10000 until he wakes you up. Hopefully you won't starve to death in the mwantime.

Ah relief. Thank you! Damn, I stopped carrying hunger scrolls and just ate off the floor for ages. And I have free slots. All those dilemmas about what to carry and then you get to 100 you dont need most of them. But hunger yes. If it comes around to haunt me then I've learned 2 lessons. thanks for the reply, would have been bitter to gas this character.

Note: if there is a permawall vault, there is a chance he won't find you. In any case, you can clear the level before he shows up. If there is a master Q or the like, it will summon M pretty reliably.

It'd probably be a worthwhile change to say "if a quest monster gets removed from the level without being killed, they are immediately added back to the level somewhere." I think the only valid cases are Destruction, or embedding Sauron in solid rock, but either way it's a crappy way to derail an endgame ironman character.

I did the same thing once and he never came back. I burned over 100,000 turns. You could try finding summoning staffs and seeing if you can summon him. Sometimes at the end of ironman games if I've run out of levels but need more stuff or character levels I'll use recharge scrolls on summon staffs and TO the undesirables. Could be useful now. (I didn't think of this when I had destructed Morgoth).

He came back that game (and killed me) but the game I am playing currently he's not coming back. Maybe someone can see if I did something wrong. Every few days I'll log in and play for a bit but Ive killed every unique now (I think), I havent kept track but it seems like 100s of 1000s of turns I have waited. i still have a few satisfy hunger lying around the dungeon but it really doenst seem like hes coming back. I had to use most of my good potions anyway fighting all the highest uniques while waiting for him. I might still have enough to beat him though.

I've had a few tough losses on DL 100 playing ironman now.

edit, sorry, i ts the first time I ever dumped a character and didnt really understand it. I guess there is no way you could tell what happened just from that info

How much of the level have you destructed? It feels a bit to me like the game struggles to place him on a fully destructed level. It's certainly where I've seen it happen. Took a quick look & couldn't see any reason why that'd be. I'll have a closer look later, I'm just away for a couple of a days.

Not that much, Maybe I can take a screenshot of the level later. I only used 2 *destruction* scrolls. I made a lot of summoning corridors because I had nothing else to do

Have you tried killing things to see if anyone drops summoning staves? If you've squelched summoning staves I'd unsquelch and see if you can't summon Morgoth.

Oh I hadn't thought of that, good idea thanks. I havent killed the character, though I was tempted to. Because I started a new character yesterday (have him down to dl70 but need to slow down now or wont have consumables) but losing the memories and having to ignore all of the items as i discover them again is a bit of a nuisance.

Ive killed hundreds and hundreds of monsters on that level. Im sure when I try unignoring there will be a staff. Whether it summons him we shall see but definitely worth a try.

I did leave a few quylthings (i dont feel like looking up the spelling alive for a while and they summoned everything but Morgoth, then I thought maybe they were somehow preventing him so I killed them too

Just to follow up. I dont *think* the terrain is an issue, as I said i only used two destruction scrolls. But I wonder if items are. For fun I unignored everything and there are 379 items on the floor lol. After sleeping for hundreds of 1000s of turns there are a lot of monsters and even old Quaker showed up. Other than Morgoth Im pretty much invincible, I fight everything like they are yeeks i dont even look at my HP. But I wonder if too many items on the level could interfere. Although of course there werent any unusual amount when M first dipped. I think he's just afraid of me

One cool thing I found (although dont get me wrong, this is boring as hell) was a plus 15 damage ring. Ive never seen one over 13 before. Its really cursed and fragile now. But holy cow, when I swap out nenya for it, I get a whopping 70 additional pts vs evil per round.

                            Still no summoning staff though!

edit: i decided i will never kill the character. Ill revisit it every few months Ill probably die in RL before Scurvis does. He's like a ghost in limbo.
