Other than Morgoth Im pretty much invincible, I fight everything like they are yeeks i dont even look at my HP.

You don't value rPoison very much, huh? I'd be a little cautious running around at DL100 without rPois, unless you were just wearing the balance dragon armor for a quick sec to see how good you look in it.

I have a MHD armour on the floor somewhere if it isnt in my bag that i was swapping it and res-potions Yeah res. poison is to me probably rthe second most important thing in the game after FA. Not so much down here but i find if i can get to 20 with FA and 40 with res-poison I can usually get to 100 but have lost to morgoth eaxh time when playing ironman. Hopefullythis game I will try tonight. After feeling his return was hopeless I didnt want to ruin the game last night when i was tired. He will still be hard with my consumables. Hopefully I can beat him so I can try the new version.

Is saruman harder with a mage? I find he is way too easy with a warrior. I dont think hes ever even come within a turn of killing me. Not only are there much tougher uniques , there are non uniques not far off

It's a pity that you did not find a single trickery which would max out dex and also sustain it (and would perfectly fill those 2 missing resist holes).

Yeah I know right? I had at least one. I didnt get as much damage with it as the weaponmastery and I honestly cant remember now but Im not sure i had dienchantment at the time. Still im suure i could have squelched something smarter. I still make a lot of bad decisions.

I should have kept it for the sustain dex alone now that i think about it. That will be a problem with M's melee attacks. Once he drops your dexterity s few times youd damage per round will never keep up, Id need a ton of potions.

After all that waiting I may just have to destruct him again haha and try to get potions and scrolls. I promise I wont whine about it here if i do.

I was thinking exactly about how much damage you would lose with 18/200 DEX and + 3 speed but without the damage bonus. Probably also interesting to compare if you lose 1-2 points of DEX in the final fight.

I thought you did not find trickery because I saw you are carrying a CON potion which seemed less useful for me (CON is maxed out and 3 armor pieces sustain CON - yeah I know sustain does not protect against time hounds). But it's true I just see the current setup and not the various states when you had to make decisions.

So I picked this game up after a couple of months. A fast refresher, I destroyed him by accident. Waited an insane amount of time for him to respawn. In the meantime killed every unique so that when he reappeared I was woefully low on consumables and scrolls, I would not have beaten him.

So after all my complaining about him not coming back, what do I do? *Destroy * him again, this time on purpose. I swear I used many dozens of sat. hunger scrolls. I wtried a couple of times a couple months back but no dice. Finally tonight after maybe 2 months I thought id give it another shot and sure enough he obliged me and I beat him.

So the most boring ironman tale ever but satisfying nonetheless for me because Id come so close (his last * a couple of times) to beating him but my first time in ironman game.

Now Im having trouble dumping my charcter though. I pull up my character "C" then choose f but I am getting this error - The Angband Ladder - reading your character...

Does anyone know what im doing wrong? I did it once before but I forget how, Im sorry. Im afraid if I kill the character now it will be lost forever. No urgency or anything, going to start a new game and go for speed from now on. Which you'd never know from this game but is how I usually like to play

I dont want to start a new thread for something that has probably been covered ad nauseum but Id like to try the latest version once i dump my character. Do you lose all your data from older versions? I dont care once I dump the character, just would rather wait until the character is dumped.

You can post your character in this thread. Not seeing the char dump, it is a bit hard to guess what went wrong. You can start a new character from scratch. You won't lose monster lore; you will need to reset any options. Make sure to update birth options ibefore picking stats.

It's a little hard to tell without more info. If you look at the file you're trying to post, does it look like a character dump? It's possible you're choosing the wrong file - it should be <charcter name>.txt in your user directory.

If everything looks correct, attach or paste it into this thread so others can check for problems.

Ok thanks guys. I'll try sorting it out Im probably missing something simple if not then Ill post it here, cheers. Looking forward to trying the update. I read some posts a while back when it was rolled out and the consensus seemed to be that Morgoth was harder.
If there is one thing I've learned it is that runes of protection are very good when meleeing him, maybe it's luck but I seem to get a lot of extra shots at him when im on one and he just moves.
Anyway, thank you, Ill figure it out, i did once already so Im just forgetting something.
