Igor the Innkeeper: It seems our hero is stuck in inventory management hell.
Village idiot: What does that mean? Isn't it enough that he is stuck in the pits of Angband?
Igor: It means he foolishly has selling on and keeps finding artifact pendants and cannot in good judgment leave any of them behind: one has fire immunity, one has cold immunity and one has +3 speed, which takes him to +9 speed.
Village idiot: Surely he has other non-essentials he can crop?
Igor: Unfortunately he found a rod of healing at 1250' and just picked up a staff of banishment, a rod of detection and wrath of god (which he can't use but you can imagine the anguish of leaving it behind when it sells for so much). He's currently standing on a *Healing* potion, but cannot make up his mind on what to drop.
Village idiot: That is a very difficult situation. Such is the curse of too many good objects all at once.
Igor: Indeed. And if matters couldn't be any worse, there are three vaults on the level, and he still has one more to ransack.
Village idiot: What ever will he do?
Igor: I worry he will put off continuing his journey indefinitely. He hasn't made a move in three hours. I fear he will start a new character and hope to have a run where he will not be plagued by such unsavory inventory dilemmas. If he does, may he have the foresight to turn off selling.
Village idiot: Angband is such a cruel game.
Igor: Indeed. It is not for the feint of heart nor the fortunate. ...and certainly not for the greedy.

I'm almost seriously considering not continuing this character. The anguish of trying to figure out what to keep is too much. I'd like a feature where @ can summon a runner to run his stuff back to town. The fee would be based on the weight of the objects being carried back and the depth at which the runner would have to descend to get the objects. I'm thinking like 20gp per object per dungeon level with extra fees for heavy armors.
You gain word that your runner was tragically killed by Shelob, Spider of Darkness while making the perilous journey back to town.
Items lost were:
a book: Wrath of God
a book: Holy Infusions
2 scrolls titled "optum legor"
a scroll titled "ventus picio"
a scroll titled "inus sacus"
partial plate armor of resistance [40, +7]
metal scale mail of elvenkind [38, +21] <+1> {??}
a ring of damage (+0, +6)
a potion of *Healing*
Damn. Should have bought insurance!
