[Umoria 5.7.3] Victory

Moria is great. Found the defender weapon around DL25 and the ring of speed around DL40. Spent longer than needed at 2450' trying to find an amulet of the magi so that I could switch to the holy avenger weapon while keeping free action, but it never showed up. Beat the Balrog using 5 out of 13 invulnerability potions so I could have won much quicker. Played on angband.live (Note: you gain 40 levels after retiring, I was level 34)

Next class down, ranger is pretty decent, might actually be the best class. Found the (HA) weapon and magi amulet around 1500', speed ring after going to 2400', found the second speed ring on the balrog level (useful). Went for the balrog at 8 invuln potions and used 7.

About that first win: Beating Balrog with just one speed ring and with only 5 invulnerability potions is beyond possible, as far as I remembered. You proved that memory wrong, alright Never won it myself, wasn't even close.

Congratulations on the win.

I haven't played Moria since the 1990s, I remember discovering it on my school's old Acorn Archimedes computers. Eventually one of the other students asked "why are you playing that?" and pointed me towards Angband 2.7.x.

Never came close to winning at Moria needless to say!
