    Kavlax, Pawn of the RNG

So, my lvl 33 Paladin goes to fight Kavlax. I am hasted with +16 speed, something like 365 health, base resists and r-pois. The result?

Kavlax breathes gravity! You slow down. Kavlax breathes nexus! You die.

Yeeeeep, pretty classic Angband death =P

Yeah Kavlax is nasty. =P I'd vote probably him as the most "wrong depth" unique of the game ...

my vote is still with Azriel. As the title mentions, kavlax is a pawn of the RNG. He can be deadly or he can be a pushover. Depends on how lucky you are.

After gravity breath you would have been very near death even with basic four being next breath. Something like 21 points of health left and slowed. Any non-guarantee escape (IE. *destruction*, 0% failure TO with no other monsters nearby) could have been your last move after that happens.

I find Kavlax to be easily one of the nastiest monsters in the game. Somehow I find that it being lowercase "d" is misleading. That is one monster that should have ATTR_FLICKER to show that it is dangerous. Easily the most dangerous of it's kind. Way way more dangerous that any of the other "d" monsters.

It is actually so scary that I leave it alone for a so long time that I'm usually hunting drop good greater demons before killing it.

Agreed it's unduly nasty for a 'd'. It looks like someone took a 'D' unique and made it into a 'd' because they were embarrassed about the lack of 'd' uniques.

Actually, perhaps Kavlax the MANY HEADED should be moved to 'M'. Maybe grab the unused Iron Crown Enterprises dragons for 'd' uniques and not give them particularly dangerous exotic breaths.
One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to bind them.
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness interrupt the movie.
