    Nearing end game -- what to wear / need to find?

    I discovered Angband a month or so ago (Moria nostaglia led me here) and I've never gotten a char to cLev 47 before.

    http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=10553 (Vanilla 3.1.2v2, standart, Dunadan Rogue)

    I just found Nenya, but swapping it for =Barahir leaves me with no rPois or wearing both takes away my =Speed+7.

    I'd love any and all suggestions as to what to wear and/or need to be looking for as I drop down to the deepest levels (currently dLev 83).

    Also, searching the forum yields general hints as to Sauron (=Acid) / Morgoth, but links to specific threads/ideas would be helpful, too, should she live that long!

    Here's the current suggestions from the gripes script, as a starting point:

    ==== Current equipment combination =================================

    The Spear 'Aeglos' (3d6) (+15,+25) [+5] (+4)
    The Short Bow of Amrod (x4) (+10,+13) (+2)
    The Ring of Power 'Nenya' (+8,+8) (+2)
    a Ring of Speed (+7)
    The Amulet of Ingwe (+3)
    The Arkenstone of Thrain
    a Cloak of the Magi [1,+13] (+2)
    The Small Metal Shield of Thorin [4,+25] (+4)
    The Soft Leather Armour 'Hithlomir' [4,+20] (+4)
    The Iron Helm of Dor-Lomin [5,+20] (+4)
    The Set of Caestus of Fingolfin (+10,+10) [5,+20] (+4)
    a Pair of Iron Shod Boots of Speed [3,+9] (+10)

    ==== Best equipment combination ====================================

    The Ring of Barahir (+1)
    The Amulet of Ingwe (+3)
    The Arkenstone of Thrain
    a Cloak of the Magi [1,+13] (+2)
    The Small Metal Shield of Thorin [4,+25] (+4)
    The Full Plate Armour of Isildur [26,+25] (+1)

    The safe option is to use Nenya and Barahir.

    However, if your Moria playing is recent, you probably have a healthy fear of poison and are used to going without resistance. The max poison damage is 800, so if you plan on casting resist poison before anytime you are likely to drop below 800 hp that is good enough. I would choose Aglarang + a ring of acid to go with Nenya.

    Most poison breathers are both obvious from their descriptions, and detected by ESP. The exception is the drolem.

    Potions are what you need to save to go against Morgoth, and Nenya protects them, so you really want to wear it.

      Thanks for the Aglarang + =Acid suggestion -- I'll definitely give that a whirl. Taha suggested an "Trickery to cover rPois, but I've not yet come across one.

      I really appreciate the help and insight.

      As for my Moria days, it's been at least 15 years. I am delighted by the work that's been done with Angband, and by the community around it.

        There is a trick to be sure that rPoison does not run out. First cast resist poison, then only cast resistance. When one of the non-poison resists runs out, it is time to cast resistance again.
