    Finally a good drop!!!!

So I guess I've been too reserved in my playing style. Either than or I'm too open to advice from members of these forum. Which I'm cool with since I haven't had one win yet and a lot of you can win playing Ironman style. So anyway I have been avoiding Gothmog, but I got Elessar yesterday which upped my combat damage and I have Hammerhand which adds to that. However I left Hammerhand home because it aggravates and I'm more of the hit and run type.

So I finally went at Gothmog since he was running around without his boys. Bad mistake...Since I was going faster than him I had time to choose a good spot for the battle. I also pimped the area out with some runes of protection so he couldn't hit me all that much. I think he got me down to 566 and that was after breathing some plasma at me. Then when he finally saw that things weren't going his way he tried to run. He didn't get far about 4 seeker arrows of slay demon slowed him down.

Honestly I've been so disappointed by the drops that I've gotten lately but I got Eonwe and Belthronding. I might carry Eonwe for the immunity to cold. But that would mean losing Ringils speed.

This is the point at which I have so much good stuff that I have a lot of choices. By wearing my amulet of trickery I get all my resists covered. But I lose hit points by not wearing Cammlas. However I feel like the benefits outweight the lost hit points. But what do you people think? What do you think I should be wearing? I'd actually like to see different opinions, because I'm guessing that a lot of you have different playing styles.

    Here is my character.

You cannot have any better items after ringil & feanor.

That's not totally true... certain weapons are probably better in the end game (although not by a lot). But Ringil is definitely sufficient.

This game can be so weird with drops. After loads of uninteresting gear from the likes of Gothmog, Sauron, a bunch of ringwraiths and a couple Dragon pits, a single Dracolisk drops the following:

        Code:
        The Ring 'Elonen' (+1,+1) (+4)
             +4 intelligence, constitution, charisma.
Provides resistance to lightning, fire, poison, fear, dark,
             disenchantment.
Cannot be harmed by acid, electricity, fire, cold.
             Sustains strength.
             Prevents paralysis. Grants telepathy.

The Elven Cloak 'Ladrad' [6,+15] (+4)
+4 strength, constitution, charisma, stealth, speed.
             Provides resistance to fire, fear.
Cannot be harmed by acid, electricity, fire, cold.
             Prevents paralysis.

        The Arkenstone 'Golion' (+1,+2) (+1)
             +1 speed.
             Provides resistance to fire, sound.
Cannot be harmed by acid, electricity, fire, cold.
             Prevents paralysis.

Ringil is pretty sick. And Feanor is awesome too...but I need something to cover my resist if I wield both of them.

            Just a comment:

I've never ever gotten boots that were as good as or better than Feanor with randarts. Seems like it would happen eventually... but no. I've also never gotten a ring of power better or equal to the standard rings of power.

I think the latter is a matter of perspective - it all depends on what you consider good. I've seen some excellent combat-enhancing rings of power, but they lack the immunity or stat boosts of the originals.

Maybe he just hasn't found the equivalent of Vilya.

I've seen randart rings with two immunities, or +3 attacks, or +5 to all important stats. My wife has found The One three times, and in two of those three it was not good enough to replace the randart ring she was using.

Okay then Feanor. Is +15 speed even possible to roll on randart boots?

Yes it is - randarts can reach +20 speed though I've only ever seen as high as +14 in several thousand randarts. But it's possible to have +15 speed and much more other stuff than Feanor - it just won't happen often. (People don't find Feanor often either, which always amuses me since the base item is so common - it should be found much more often than Zarcuthra, Deathwreaker, Doomcaller etc., but it isn't.)
