    [a] dar

Well, i'm really making progress with my angband gaming thanks to this great forum. Having a char lungering around 500' - killed some uniques but somehow its a hard game, found nothing interesting at all.

Also i picked an "easy" class/race combination (for i really want to win someday).

At least i could avoid to get killed. Will recall soon since i'm almost out of escapes. But i fear this char won't survive much longer

Stupid me - should listen to myself sometimes. Got killed by Orfax and had no chance to get yanked upwards before. Phase door didnt help me, mana was down and no curing.
Well - the most important rule is not to die.

You're going to die. The most important rule is Learn From Your Deaths.

Potions of cure criticals are indispensable for a low level character.

Not nearly as important as learning to return home *immediately* when you run out of something vital. In fact, should recall sooner when it was merely getting low.

Well - you know, if i go just some steps further it wont harm...well, went good, just some more steps...oh, there is a pile of silver coins....and those black orcs may give some good exp...oh, too hard - teleport away...some blue yeeks, no problem - got commanded to return, confused, insulted...the whole thing.

Yes, play save - avoid death. I know, i always knew, maybe one day i will learn

I disagree. I start with the CLW's (for blindness), then CSW's (for confusion+blindness), they are a lot cheaper than CCW's which you really don't have to have until your HP's are a bit higher.

Potions should be used primarily to cure the side effects. You can always just rest to restore HP.

On my new rogue, the CLW's also cure confusion along with blindness. Is this intended?

Somehow I doubt it. It was not listed on the changelist. I think someone copied too much while creating effects.c. Nevertheless, that's clearly the current behavior.

On second look, it was clearly intentional. Cuts and confusion are reduced by a different amount from CSW, although it is probably more than enough.

IMO this should have been mentioned prominently in the changelist.

CSW cures confusion and cuts completely, CLW only reduces it by some amout.
CCW also completly cures stun and poisoninig.

Well, the story goes on. After some near-death experiences against wyrms and those bloody hounds im still chicken around at L30: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=9947

May have to recall soon since my escapes and healing potions are again nearly 0. Actually theyre not but i always forget some of them - like the staff of curing - during battles.
Had some lucky finds lately, especially The Soft Leather Armour 'Hithlomir' which finally gave me some really needed resistances.
I dont understand, what the (-1, -1) from wormtongues boots means? They are looking good to me.

If you see something on an item that looks like (+X, +Y), then that's its effect on your to-hit and to-damage rating. It sounds like Wormtongue's boots are making you very slightly worse at combat.

                            And now another stupid AAR

Ok, the +3 bonus on intelligence, dexterity, stealth and speed are sure a point to keep themuntil i find something better. I fear that !wdam and !whit wont increase those points
Maybe now its time to get some more uniques.

Sorry for wasting your time...as usual and always: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=9947
