    Thanks for the tips.

Well I've been pottering around lvl 98 for 100k turns and still haven't found any form of banishment. Found Thorin and another an amulet of trickery +4 though.

I cleared out an absolutely massive vault, which took around 2 hours and there was absolutely nothing worth having in there at all. I can see why everyone is complaining about too much junk.

Found some heavy weapons such as a blade of chaos and a mace of disruption. Are these worth keeping to use with a ring of acid for Sauron?

By the way, how do you update a character dump on the ladder?

Just dump it again. It will find and overwrite the previous version.

The main problem is that the alternatives are even less appealing. If a vault always had upgrades for 3-4 items the game would get too easy and too boring quickly. Also, if items were squelched on creation, you would have no need of exploring the entire vault. Especially if you know the artifact list.

If they're Extra attacks or Holy Avenger. Maybe. Otherwise, probably not

Against Sauron with warrior Mace is probably too heavy. Blade of Chaos might be useful, if it has high to_dam.

3*6d5 is 54 on average. Not many weapons have that, so if you don't need any special abilities from your weapon that can be useful.

OTOH if I recall correctly you had Aglarang which has 8d4 which had even bigger dice: 8d4, which means that you get 60 from dice alone. Not many criticals with that light weapon, though. Glaive of Pain with Acid-ring is real killer if you find it.

Ah I hadn't noticed Aglarang had such high dice, I'll keep that instead.

I've been on lvl 98 for a fair while, since I want to give myself a decent chance of winning. I have just found Nenya and a Sling of Buckland.

Are Slings of Buckland that good? Normal shots only seem to do around 150 damage. I guess I'll need to look about for some good shots.

Looking at my equipment I think I can get immunity to all four basic elements and resistance to all the others as well, but it would mean having aggravation and a loss of quite a bit of speed as well (replacing a Ring of Speed with Nenya), so I'm not sure that would be a good idea.

I've found one ?Banishment and one _Banishment. Thing is I'm not sure of the % fail for the staff (I almost died when trying to use a _Destruction failed when fighting The Lernaean Hydra).

_banish is bad to carry if you think S or M will hit you even once before you kill them. Use it, don't save it.

Oh right I'll use it up then. Is it because they'll get burnt up or is it the failure rate for a warrior?

It's because they touch to drain charges, and when they drain charges that heals them. You should not carry any wands or staves to the big fights unless they are empty.

Against Sauron you can drop wands/staves, as long as you don't plan to teleport or phase. They will only get drained in your pack.

Obviously this won't work against Morgoth, due to earthquakes and the need to phase.
